News and Noteworthy:

Congratulations to Mike Bigda on his new position at St. Paul Insurance Company in downtown Hartford.  He is the Director of Process Design and Improvement.  According to Mike, "My goal is to learn as much as possible about the business and IT areas in Personal Lines over the first 30 days and then begin to formulate recommendations over the second 30 days.  Bottom line -- a lot to learn in a short period of time.  I've been there 8 days and still have a ton to learn - must be slowing down (I don't think so)."

Subject: Organizational Announcement

With mixed feelings, I would like to announce the retirement of Ken Schultz as Vice President of Information Technology of AMS.  While Ken and his wife, Charlene, are looking forward to the next chapter of their lives, we wish them well and we will miss Ken's many valuable contributions to our business.  Ken has been at AMS for more than 25 years and has held numerous executive positions within the AMS divisions. Ken’s contributions to AMS have been significant, including his oversight of the creation of many AMS’ product and service delivery systems and significant contribution to the formation of the AMS data center which now hosts well over 16,000 end users and products from all of the AMS divisions.

Ken will remain with AMS through the completion of the first phase of the PeopleSoft implementation and will assist AMS in finding his eventual replacement in Windsor. The Enterprise IT function (headed by William Farris), PeopleSoft application group (headed by Bob Schackner), and facilities team will report directly to me on an interim basis.  The purchasing function will be transitioned to Jill Barry, AMS Corporate Controller.

Please join me in wishing Ken the very best in his future endeavors and thanking Ken for his many contributions.
